Our largest event of the year in the City of St. Albans, West Virginia, the Train Day Festival will be Saturday, September 21, 2024. Organized by the St. Albans Area Chamber of Commerce, the brick street of the Saint Albans Train Depot Historic District will be alive with family-friendly fun and entertainment from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
There will be live music on stage all day and plenty of food and craft vendors. Rides on the Hoppy Shores Train are free and kids will also get a free train whistle!
Volunteers from the C&O Historical Society will be onsite working and greeting the public at the historic structure preserved by the City of St. Albans. With our O-scale model train layout running, model trains have successfully returned to the historic St. Albans depot. Fueled by our generous C&OHS volunteers and local community support, the progress being made on the operating layout and new interpretive museum has put life back into the city’s one-of-a-kind depot. As trains rumble by, finer details are being added every week to enhance the layout’s scenery that represents St. Albans.
The regions of St. Albans and South Charleston are the focus of this layout developed for the public’s enjoyment in western Kanawha County. Each month, the young and young at heart enjoy the vivid rumble of trains through western Kanawha County.
Answers to your railroading questions and photos will also be part of the event, and as always, stories from the C&O Railway to Amtrak will be told to all in attendance by current and retired railroaders.
